December Favorites!

I have several favorites this month. And they are all beauty related.

Let's get started!

I have really bad dry skin year round. In the winter it's like 100x worse! I put this on every night right before I crawl into bed. I find it refreshing and cool as it sets on the skin. I mainly apply it onto my forehead and the sides of my nose and cheeks. It's doesn't have a thick formula at all. It's kind of gel like. I exact product is no longer available from Avon but you can find the new (and just as wonderful) version of it here. It retails for $32 USD.

This is the Revlon Photoready concealer in Fair. I had never tried a concealer by Revlon before, and I wasn't even looking for a new concealer when I found this one at my local grocery store on clearance. It usually retails for around $9 I believe but I got this one for $2.99. I quickly snatched it up. I adore this stuff! I don't apply it directly to my face, though. I use the tip of my finger to get some of the product off before dabbing it on under my eyes and on the sides of my nose and along the bridge of my nose. Not only does it conceal well.... It also brightens! It's a 2 for 1! =)

I got 5 of these at CVS one day at the beginning of the month. They were all 50% off so I couldn't pass that up! This one right here is my favorite out of the bunch. It's called On Cloud Nine. It stays true to Wet n Wild's fashion. It's buttery soft and so pigmented. The smokey gray blue eyelid shade, the hot chocolate brown crease color, and the very VERY pale blue browbone color gives you a pretty natural look.

BH Cosmetics was having a REALLY amazing sale one day so I took advantage of it and bought this palette I'd been dying to get since it came out. This is my first purchase from BH Cosmetics but I know it won't be my last. From what I can see, they always have good sales going on. I'm not going to go too in depth here because I plan on doing a review on it after I've been using it for a while. Swatches will be available then. These colors are INSANE! They really are true to color. The packaging is amazing. There's really nothing I don't like about it.  The colors are completely out of my comfort zone because I lean more towards natural/ neutral colors. But this palette is a dream. =)

I've become somewhat of a lipstick hoarder lately. I can't seem to stop buying them. Especially Avon lipsticks. They are unbelievably moisturizing! Not only are they very affordable, but there's SO many shades available. This particular lipstick is the Avon Ultra Color Rich Brilliance lipstick. Sadly, it is no longer available for retail. Which really saddens me. I didn't get to try any of the other colors in this line. They do still have many more collections of lipsticks to choose from and I haven't found one yet that isn't moisturizing and very pigmented. (If you want an in depth review of all of Avon's collections, let me know in the comments below!)

These babies here are also Avon. They are the Nail Art Color Strips. They come in a wide variety of designs. This particular one is called Color Shock and they retail for $10 a piece. I used to think that all of the nail art strip type things from any retailer were WAY too expensive. But after I tried them, I completely changed my mind. I don't usually do full manis with them. I usually just do one or two accent nails. This time I decided to try it out on all of my digits to see how well and long they lasted. So far, I'm going on day 4 and I haven't had a bit of trouble with lifting around the edges or anything like that. The first one I used was one called Zebra Bling and I did 2 accent nail on each hand. Those lasted for 2 weeks! I couldn't believe it. I was so shocked. I had to touch up my other fingers with polish several times in that time period. And you can see that you can still use these even when you have crazy short nails like I do. =)

So, that's my December favorites. I'm not going to do a 2013 favorites like some people are doing. I have a hard enough time trying to pick what I like best for each month! I can't imagine having a years worth of products to choose from!

A new idea!

I was trying to think of a way for me to get my name out there in the Avon rep world. I came up with the idea of blogging about my top picks of each campaign. C-2 is starting 12/31/13 and there's 2 weeks or so that it will be current. From then until January 13th. So, be on the look out for those! Look for the one for C-2 to be published within the next few days!

On a side note, I seem to be having technical difficulties with my Avon webstore. It would appear that I am no longer accepting new customers... which is entirely untrue.  I am in the process of getting that worked out. With that being said, you do not have to be in my district... you don't even have to order from me. I just thought it would be helpful for people to know some of the key products and products that I think are a hit with each campaign.

Thanks for reading!

Isn't this the happiest time of year??

The holidays are always stressful until Christmas actually gets here. That's when I can just sit back and relax and enjoy my time with my family.

This year, I don't even know if I'll be able to relax. I don't even know what I'll be doing. Yesterday all was going along as normal... I was organizing Christmas gifts to wrap and singing along to Mariah Carey's Christmas album and then all of a sudden it completely took a turn for the worse.

If you read a previous post about what I was thankful for then you know that I don't have the best relationship with my dad... In fact, I don't really have one at all. But it's not for my lack of trying. There's just something that stands in the way of any kind of relationship I have with him.

Well, yesterday he called a family member because he was in severe pain and he couldn't breath. He was rushed to the hospital and immediately seen in the emergency room. There was no waiting for him because it was apparent that he was in such distress... Turns out he had an aneurism on his aorta and it was moments away from rupturing. They had no room for him so they flew him to a hospital almost two hours away. A large blood supply went with him because if the aneurism ruptured then he would bleed out instantly.
By the time he got to the next hospital the aneurism had done what they were afraid of but he was immediately rushed into surgery to correct what was wrong. The aneurism was already  9cm long so it took much longer than they anticipated. While on the table he went into cardiac arrest and it took them 20 minutes to revive him. Now he is in a medically induced coma and on a respirator for possibly 6 days. He's very sick and they're only giving him a 50/50 chance of surviving this.

If they bring him out of the coma in 6 days... that will be Christmas. I have no idea what's going to happen or what's even expected to happen. I don't know if in 6 days they're bringing him out because he will be better by then or if they're bringing him out of it to see if he'll be better.

I'm a nervous wreck and I'm falling apart. I  feel helpless and I have no clue what I'm going to do...

Influenster!

I signed up for Influenster today! And to take my mind off of the horrible events from today I've been typing up my reviews of every product under the sun so I can earn badges that will then let me earn voxboxes!

You don't have to wait until Influenster sends you products. It seems like there's an endless supply of products, from beauty to home and travel, for you to review. I've really been enjoying sharing my opinion of everything that I've tried. I'm also learning about new products that I didn't even know existed.

So click the button below and see what it's all about!

P.S. You might even see some embarrassing reviews... LOL!

Khroma--Errr... Kardashian Beauty Palettes Review!

I am a Kardashian fan, I'll admit it. Although, I'm picky about who I like. Anyway, Kourtney is my all time favorite! And Khloe follows closely behind her. So, of course, as soon as I could find them,  I grabbed Kourtney's and Khloe's face palette.
I searched everywhere for Khroma Beauty products but then I learned that they had to take their products off the shelves and halt their launch of the line because of legal problems with their name. So now the products are known as Kardashian Beauty.

I looked at my local CVS and Sears for products, but I was still out of luck. I figured I would have no luck with Sears because they don't even carry the Kardashian Collection, which bums me out. =P
I tried online and I finally found the line of cosmetics on CVS' website. BUT THERE WERE NO PALETTES! I knew they existed but I couldn't find them anywhere.

Finally, FINALLY, I found them. I was browsing eBay, and low and behold, there they were. They were not brand new, but had only been swatched for reviews. I don't know the seller's reason for wanting to sell them, but I'm glad she did. I snatched them up for a good price and after about a week I finally have them!!!!

I've been testing them out and I really am enjoying them!

We'll start with Kourtney's!

Kourtney's Kardazzle Face Palette includes 4 matte shades and 4 metallic shimmery shades, 1 blush, 1 highlighter, and 1 bronzer.

As you can see from the picture above, the words are almost completely worn off. Which is kind of a bummer. I would think that it would last a little longer than that. Oh well, I don't mind that much. As long as I'm happy with what's on the inside, I don't care what the outside looks like. I am digging the reptile-like pattern on the palette, though.

My loose powder exploded earlier and there's powder over everything, I apologize!
This just basically tells you what's included in the palette and the ingredients. And all the other businessy things that have to go on products.

Due to the very cold, over cast winter day I couldn't go outside and take natural light photos, but these didn't turn out TOO terribly bad, right??
Top row: 4 matte shades - a creamy color, a peachy color, a light tan color, and a rosey mauve color
Bottom row: 4 metallicy shimmery shades - Gold,  champagne rose gold, a cranberry, a taupey brown.
Then in a pull out compartment is the blush, highlighter and bronzer.
( Do you like my description? LOL! So technical.)

My arms are sensitive for some reason and they break out very easily so I always hesitate to do any swatches anywhere else but my hand.
I couldn't capture the colors of the matte shades (on the left) but they are very smooth. They do show up well in reality, all except the second one from the top, which is the tan color. I don't get much color payoff from him at all.
The metallic shades are GORGE! I will say that they are really powdery, so using a damp brush works best. It also brings out the vibrant colors more!

Now onto Khloe's Kardazzle Face Palette!

As you can see, this one has completely worn off. And I didn't even bother showing the back because there's absolutely nothing on it.

This one is the same layout. 4 matte shades on top and 4 metallic shades right beneath it. The blush, highlighter, and bronzer is on a slide out portion that locks into place beneath the shadows.
The highlighter is kind of shimmer so be careful where you put it!
Matte shadows: cream, peach, tan, taupe
The sun peaked out a little so I was able to get these to show up better than Kourtney's.
They all have good color pay off, again, except for the tan one. Third color from the left.

Oh the beautiful metallic shades! These were the same quality. Powder but awesome if you use a damp brush.
Champagne gold, gold gold, peachy gold, and a dark bronze gold.

All in all I am pleased with my new toys! =) They're very small so they are perfect for on the go. Which is handy this time of year because of all the holiday traveling. I also think I can get some good holiday looks from these two babies.

They do include a mirror, which is always a bonus. I hate palette's that don't come with one.
I wish the formula for the metallic shades would have been less powdery, but it's not hard to spritz some water on the brush.

XOXOXOXOXOXO

Daily Happenings:

I have some nail polish reviews coming up. Yay! Including the color you see in the last picture above! Can anyone guess what this pretty color is??

More wintery weather is on the way. I think I might be stuck inside yet again this weekend.

Wednesday was the first day that I was able to get out of my house from the last winter storm we had. I was stuck inside for 6 days. Major cabin fever.

12 more days til Christmas!!

I have some Coastal Scents and BHCosmetics hauls/reviews coming up!

I am now officially off the waitlist for Ipsy! I am now a subscriber for it! My first bag will come in January, I believe. I REALLY wish I could have gotten this months! Boo!

Hauls Coming Up Soon!

So, today, I went shopping. Online shopping, though, since where I live is in a winter storm warning... Ugh! Ice has literally been falling from the sky for the last 10 hours... It is a nightmare out there! Anyway, I wanted to get  some Christmas shopping done so along the way I threw a few things for myself into my shopping cart. I ordered from E.L.F. ~EyesLipsFace~ and Coastal Scents! Both sites are having a huge sale on so many products. I'm excited to try Coastal Scents! I've never purchased anything from them before but I decided that now would be as good a time as any since I was already ordering something for someone else!
E.L.F is a brand that I totally love so I went on their site today to pick out some cheap but cute products for my 5 year old niece for Christmas. She loves make up and is always wanting to play with mine. I thought this more affordable brand would be perfect for her to play dress up!

I can't wait for my new purchases to  come in the mail. =)

I have some new Avon products to review and swatch for future posts. I tested out some of the products today. FYI: my free gift from Avon was a GORGEOUS eyeliner that I wish to purchase more of in different shades. (More about that later! ;) )

Still waiting on my Khroma Beauty palettes to arrive. They should have been here yesterday or today but sadly... they were not.

Time for me to go snuggle up in bed with my hot cocoa and YouTube.

Goodnight!!!

November (UN)Favorites!

There is not much worse than spending your hard earned money on something that you thought you HAD to have because you can't beat that price... or the packaging was pretty and shiny... or it claims to have some kind of revolutionary effect on your skin... only to find that it was completely worthless and a total waste of time and money. Well, these are my November (Un)favorites!

Again, as with my favorites, I didn't use a lot of products this month so this post will be quite short!

I got this just to try it out. It was horrible. The formula was very thick and it was drying to my skin. I have a problem with dry skin, especially in the winter, and this made it much worse. It also didn't help conceal the redness of my skin at all. It was only a $1 but it was a waste of that dollar bill. I got this at Walmart, I believe.

Hmmmm...seems like I'm picking on E.L.F. today. I love them, especially their eyeshadows and their brushes! But this is another product that I REALLY do not like. It's not very translucent because it leaves a slight pink cast to my skin and it doesn't really matify anything. It might get rid of your shine for a bit but it doesn't last nearly as long as it should! Which makes me sad. I got this for $3 at Target.

There are days when I don't feel like blow drying and straightening my hair.. or waiting on it to air dry. Usually I go for my trusted Garnier brand (The curl construct mousse) but while I was buying my favorite Tresemme dry shampoo I thought I would give this a shot.  It's supposed to be ultra light styling mousse. It wasn't very light. It had more of a creamy texture to it than the usual whipped texture. I wasn't enjoying that. It also states that it gives you natural feeling hair... Uuuuhhhhh... since when is crunchy hair natural?? My hair was so crunchy and tangly that I couldn't get my fingers through it. I don't remember the price but I got it at Target.

--ignore the chipped thumb nail!! ugh!---
Okay, I was SO pumped to try this mascara. It was recommended by Melmphs in one of her YouTube videos. She said it was one of her favorite mascaras. I'm always looking for a new mascara!  I got the one in Very Black. It did not lengthen my lashes at all and I found that after awhile it would get kind of flaky. It has a pretty dry formula. I'm hoping I just got a bad tube of it because I bought two! I'll give my other one a try when this one is gone. I don't like wasting mascara. The good thing about the Clumpcrusher is that I found that it is buildable. I can let it dry and add another coat.

I added my megalength, not because I don't like it, but because I love it. I would take this mascara over the clumppcrusher any day. My $2 mascara is better that my almost $9 mascara.

Daily happenings:

They're saying that the winter storm that is supposed to hit tomorrow is going to be reminiscent of the 2008 ice storm that we had that caused so much damage and power outages. UGH! I am NOT looking forward to that. There's going to be 2 rounds of it. Thursday night to Friday night and then on Sunday. Looks like I'll be trapped at home for a while.

It's killing me that it's in the 70s right now and starting tomorrow it's going to be in the 20s with wind chills in the single digits and below zero.

I was planning on going to Ulta this weekend. One opened back in October near my hometown and I still haven't been! I was going to go wild and buy stuff for myself for a change. Merry Christmas to me! BUT now that the area is going to be covered in ice.... It's a no go. Thankfully, I have a couple eyeshadow palettes and several new things to try out coming from Avon. Both should be here today! =)

November Favorites!

There's not much better than finding items you absolutely love so you'd think I'd do it more often! But sadly, work and family emergencies have been getting in the way every time I try to do a Friday favorite post. So this time... it's November Favorites!

It's December 3rd so it's definitely time to get this post up. Now, I don't have a lot this month because I've not been in the greatest mood to go all out on beauty products this month, and I haven't had the time. So I didn't have a lot of new favorites to pick from.

And, as usual, this isn't just beauty favorites. =)

This candle is from Avon and I think it smells like some kind of coffee scent when it's not burning. I love all things coffee so this didn't bother me even though coffee doesn't spell Autumn to me... When it's burning it really does have that fall spice scent. It's not pumpkiny or anything like that. It just kind of like if you bottled up everything that reminds you of this season and lit it on fire. LOL! In other words, I really LOVE this candle but I have no idea how to describe it. This candle is also no longer available for sale... I definitely regret not purchasing more before they were gone for the season! If you're interested in other scents (Another one will be coming up for my December favorites) you can find them here!
This is Avon's Care Deeply Lip Balm. I peeled off the label that was on it because I got a little carried away when I opened it and I completely destroyed it. Anyway, it's GREAT for your lips but that's not why I included it in my favorites... I carry it with me in my purse and use it as my cuticle moisturizer! It does such a wonderful job. I use it twice a day, usually. If only once, I'll do it right before I go to bed. =) If you're interested in this product you can find it here! You can't go wrong with the price! It's only .99!

I color my own hair regularly and I ALWAYS use Garnier brand. But I had never tried this particular kind. I was nervous about trying something new since it's a permanent product. But I was watching a Melmphs YouTube video and she recommended it. I love her so I decided that I just might give it a try! Well, she was right. It's wonderful! SO moisturizing. I used the black shade. It's supposed to be very long lasting and so far, it's been about a month, I can't see much difference in it. Looks like I could have done it a few days ago, not a month. I highly recommend it. I purchased this one at my local CVS. I can't remember how much it costs, but I got it on sale. =)

This little miracle came from Target. It has been a lifesaver for my hair! I use a flat iron on my hair 99% of the time and this product has made such a difference. It really does work at keeping your hair straight for an extended amount of time. I haven't timed it so I don't know if it's really 48 hours, but it's close!

Covergirl is my main brand to use for foundation. I've used Aquasmooth for the longest time... but I was watching Andrea Matillano's YouTube videos and it was one of the foundations that she recommended. I was looking to try new products at the time and I thought "why not??". I am in the shade buff beige. It's supposed to be primer, foundation, and concealer all in one product. I still use concealer and primer with it because I like A LOT of coverage, even though it's not needed, but if you want to skip those steps this one will do great for you, too! Standing alone, it really does have great coverage. I got mine at Kroger. It was actually cheaper than Target or CVS or Walgreens.

This is the trio that I've been using almost everyday for the last month. It's actually the trio for brown eyes but my green eyes still look good with it. =) The colors go on smooth and there's not a lot of fall out. I use eyeshadow primer on my lids before applying and it stays on all day! I did not buy this product, someone gifted it to me. So I don't know how much it is. I don't usually look at the Almay section in the beauty department so I can't tell you if it's even still available!

So that's it for my November Favorites! It wasn't much but it was all I had to share. =) I hope you enjoyed reading it!

Daily Happenings:

It's been 60 degrees or more this week but by the end of the week it's going to be a struggle to get out of the teens... and we're expecting a winter storm. So I'll more than likely be stuck in my house. Great time to catch up on blogging, yes? ;)

I have a couple of Khroma Beauty palettes on their way to me! I'm so excited to swatch and review them! I will admit, the Kardashians are a guilty pleasure of mine. They have been since day one. Some people know this, some don't. Kourtney's my favorite and always will be... Kris is my absolute LEAST favorite. UGH. Glad she's not my mom.

21 days until Christmas Eve!!!!!! I'm almost done shopping. All that's left is to get up my Christmas tree and wrap the gifts.
